United States presidential election in Arkansas, 1984
(詳細はthe District of Columbia, were part of the 1984 United States presidential election. Arkansas voters chose 6 electors to the Electoral College, which selected the President and Vice President of the United States.
Arkansas was won by incumbent United States President Ronald Reagan of California, who was running against former Vice President Walter Mondale of Minnesota. Bush of Texas, and Mondale ran with Representative Geraldine Ferraro of New York, the first major female candidate for the Vice-Presidency.
==Partisan background==
The presidential election of 1984 was a very partisan election for Arkansas, with just under 99% of the electorate voting only either Democratic or Republican, though 10 parties total appeared on the ballot. Most counties in Arkansas voted in majority for the Reagan. During this election you can still see a scattering of counties turning out for Mondale in the Southeast portion of the state, which are evident of the Democratic stronghold along the Mississippi River.
Arkansas weighed in for this election as 2% more Republican than the national average.
